GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn.-- According to the Centers for Disease Control, prescription drug abuse is the fastest growing drug problem among teens and young adults. In fact, the Partnership for Drug Free America says each day 2,500 teens use prescriptions to get high for the first time.
Many teens find the prescription drugs at home, so disposing of unwanted and unused prescriptions could be a lifesaver.
This morning, LeeAnn Mortensen from North Memorial Injury Prevention Program stopped by the show to tell us more about this growing epidemic and share details about where unused/unwanted meds can be disposed of safely.
