GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. -- Each January first, many of us resolve to be healthier. A month later, however, that resolve disappears as quickly as a holiday cookie.
Enter Minnesota's Lifetime Fitness. They want to create a resolution revolution.
They are starting a new movement called, "Commitment Day."
Jason Thunstrom, Vice President of LifeTime Fitness, joined KARE 11 News @4 to explain.
Thunstrom says "Commitment Day" is a movement to make America healthier. On January 1st, the company plans to simultaneously hold 5K-run/walk events in 30 cities.
In Minneapolis, the 5K-run/walk event will be held at the Metrodome. Their goal is to have 100,000 participants.
In addition, Special Olympics, MusiCares, Folds of Honor and the Life Time Foundation have been named as founding partners in this new event and event participants are encouraged to raise funds for the charity of their choice through the social funding platform, Crowdrise.
Founding Charity Partners will receive recognition and support in connection with the Commitment Day 365 movement during 2013.

All Commitment Day 5k participants receive a Limited Edition Commitment Day T-shirt and a 2013 Commemorative Commitment Journal.
