GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn.- This flu season is shaping up to be one of the worst in decades. More than 2 thousand in Minnesota have been hospitalized with the flu, and 75 people have died.
This has all of us looking for the ways to protect ourselves and many are finding answers right in the palm of their hands.
Brent Nelson from Verizon wireless stopped by KARE 11 News @4 is to show off some new and helpful flu related apps.
The free apps include:
Flu Tracker- This app maps flu activity across the country and directs users to the nearest vaccination locations. The app and others like it are available on Android and Apple devices.
Flu Defender - This Apple app shows easy and practical ways to protect families from the flu. And, if they do start experiencing symptoms, users can tap into an interactive tool to determine if it could be the flu.
Web M.D. - Available on Android and Apple devices, this app provides 24/7 mobile access to symptom checkers and treatment options.
ZocDoc - This app, available on Apple and Android devices, helps users find doctors who accept their health insurance plans. It also allows them to view available timeslots and schedule appointments instantly.
