GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - You might be rubber-necking gas station signs today as prices spiked more than 20 cents today.
According to AAA gas prices are spiking across state with many places posting more than $4. The average price still remains $3.89.
AAA says the reason is that two major refineries in Chicago are on shutdown for maintenance which is causing a spike in the entire upper Midwest.
Unlike most maintenance that lasts a week or so, this shutdown is expected to last through Memorial Day at the earliest and may continue all the way to July 4th.
