GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - Apple's new operating system, the largest update since the original iPhone was released in 2007 is available for download on Wednesday and the new iPhone 5S and 5C are set for release in the U.S. on Friday.

Chief Technology Officer and CTO of Minneapolis-based digital agency space150 shared key new features of the latest phones and software, and what they mean for new and existing users.

This is a totally overhauled operating system that will surprise people (comes standard on new devices and available on models 4 and up)

Three of the most important ways it is changing

  • OS is visually very different
  • OS usability/interaction differences (optimized and takes into account our touch experience)
  • New Features: Fingerprint (iThumb), iBeacon

All of these together = a new capability
