Junk Bonanza turns trash to treasure in Shakopee

GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - Think you might have hidden treasure sitting in your basement or attic? Then you might want to pay a visit to the Junk Bonanza Sept. 26-28 at Canterbury Park in Shakopee.

Thousands of vintage items, antiques, architectural salvage and artisanal and repurposed goods from more than 150 purveyors from the Midwest and across the nation will be for sale.

Be sure to check out the Art of Junk gallery, with 15 finalists from among more than 130 entries of furniture and home decor repurposed from vintage items. Judges will award cash prizes of $1,000 to the top three entries. The three-day, indoor event includes a "Lucky Friday" event with giveaways each 15 minutes throughout the day of $35 gift certificates from more than 70 vendors, which can be redeemed on site. Several other sponsors have also made generous giveaway donations.

Professional appraiser and HGTV "Cash in the Attic" star, Tim Luke, will make a guest appearance. Three lucky attendees will win a chance to Walk The Bonanza with Tim.

The event will be at 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday and from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Admission is $9.
