GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - With our cold and windy weather recently, you may have found raking leaves a frustrating chore. However, there's a different way to make those leaves work for you.
Heidi Heiland of Heidi's Lifestyle Gardens says consider not having them hauled away and added to the landfills! Removing the leaves shows off our tidy yards yet it's not the system that nature intended.
Here are 7 ways to make those leaves work for you-
1) Make leaf mold
2) Compost your leaves
3) Shred them, then use as mulch in beds or containers
4) Turn them into the soil
5) Use them as winter mulch to insulate tender plants
6) Make a lasagna garden
7) Save them
Also, here's Heidi's upcoming event-
Looking for some Horticultural Healing as this weather cools??
