GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - Are you multi-tasking in your job, driving harder, but still feel like you are not keeping up?
Pause- reflect- and do things differently, according to bestselling author Kevin Cashman.
Kevin Cashman who has 25 years of experience coaching CEOs joined KARE 11 News @ 4 to offer some highlights from his new book The Pause Principle: Step Back to Lead Forward (Berrett-Koehler;September 2012).
Cashman says that pausing to gain fresh perspective and transcend immediacies is the key to leadership excellence in today's complex world that won't slow down.
He illustrates how pause powers three critical areas of leadership:
- Grow oneself: Pause for personal leadership through self-awareness, character, and purpose. This is an inside-out process of growing the whole person.
- Grow Others: By pausing to develop others, the organization will benefit and the next generation will succeed.
- Grow Cultures of Innovation: Grow the first two areas and the organization will be better positioned to foster new ideas to move the company forward.
