GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. -- Chris Freytag joined KARE Saturday morning to talk about Playworks, a nonprofit organization to help kids maintain physical activity and play at recess and throughout the school day.

The program also works towards reducing bullying by teaching children how to resolve their own conflicts in many helpful ways and solutions. Playworks helps to keep recess both safe and fun; and by ensuring physical activity on the playground, teachers can rest assured that students will return to the classroom focused and ready to learn.

A nationwide survey reported that teachers reclaimed, on average, 20 hours of teaching time after partnering with Playworks due to fewer behavioral problems on the playground and in the classroom. Playworks will be placing 360 full time coaches across 22 cities expecting to serve 350,000 children during the 2012-2013 school year.
