GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - Minneapolis and Saint Paul Public Schools are working with local youth-development organization Project SUCCESS to prepare students for a smooth transition from eighth grade into high school.

The goal of the partnership between public schools and Project SUCCESS is to help develop an environment where every student feels safe and supported to have the confidence  to start high school.

Incoming 10th grader Adrienne Diercks, Founder and Executive Director of Project SUCCESS,  from the Minneapolis Public School district, joined KARE 11 Sunrise to talk about Project SUCCESS and why it is such a valuable program to get involved with.

Free transition events will be held in August, prior to the beginning of the 2012-2013 school year. For Saint Paul Public Schools this event will be August 16-17 and for Minneapolis Public Schools, the event will be August 21-23.
