GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. -- NBC's Education Nation is an effort to bring together educators, policy makers and students to find ways to advance the nation's schools.

NBC invited Columbia Heights middle school teacher Angel Brown to participate in one of the forums where teachers were asked about changes they would make.

Change is something Brown thrives on.  Her school, Columbia Academy, has undergone a transformation from middle school to an academy focused on math, science and advanced studies in other core subjects.

Brown was featured in a 2011 "What's Cool in Our School" story you can see here.
