Spinal Muscular Atrophy, or SMA, is a motor neuron disease that robs young children of their muscles used for crawling, walking, head and neck control.
It can be fatal, which makes it all the more important to find treatments and a cure.
That is the mission behind Emerson's Hope Foundation, a locally-based non-profit hosting its second annual "18 for Emerson" golf tournament, which will benefit gene therapy research.
The tournament is Monday, August 13th at The Wilds Golf Club in Prior Lake. Entry includes golf, dinner and auction.
