RICHFIELD, Minn. - A 6-year-old girl was critically injured when she fell into a backyard pool in Richfield.
Police say the girl's 8-year-old cousin tried to help her but both had to be rescued by a neighbor and officers. Authorities say the pool was uncovered and partially filled with water when the girl fell in Sunday morning.
The 6-year-old girl was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center where she is listed in critical condition. The 8-year-old male cousin was also transported as a precaution but he was not injured.
Two officers and a group of neighbors teamed up to pull the children out of the pool.
The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident.
