BUFFALO, Minn. - The original suspect in the murder of Cold Spring police officer Tom Decker was booked back into jail just days after being arrested and released for allegedly stalking his ex-girlfriend.

Ryan Michael Larson was arrested Thursday afternoon after a warrant was issued alleging that he violated the conditions of his release on charges that he stalked his ex-girlfriend.

He was booked in to the Stearns County Jail about 3:30 p.m. Thursday and released about 11:30 p.m. Thursday, according to Stearns County Jail records.

Larson was arrested the night Cold Spring-Richmond Police Officer Tom Decker was killed behind a bar on Main Street in Cold Spring. Larson spent four days in jail before being released without being charged.

Stearns County prosecutors said they did not have a strong enough case against Larson.

He then was charged in Wright County with violating a harassment and restraining order that barred him from having any contact with his ex-girlfriend. Larson made his first court appearance on that charge, posted bail and was released.

The Wright County judge at that hearing attached several conditions to Larson's release, including not possessing alcohol or drugs and not possessing any firearms. It's unclear what condition Larson was accused of violating that caused the arrest warrant to be issued.

Larson was taken into custody at a Waite Park residence.
