LAKE MILLE LACS, Minn. - Two people are in custody in connection with a drive-by shooting in the Grand Casino parking lot that left one man injured and led to a massive manhunt.

Mille Lacs County Sheriff Brent Lindgren says deputies responded to the Grand Casino Mille Lacs parking lot around 4 p.m. Thursday on reports of shots fired. After an investigation they found a 19-year-old Isle man in a room inside the hotel who had been grazed in the back by a bullet.

The victim was taken to a hospital by ambulance, treated and released.

Surveillance images from the casino parking lot identified the suspect vehicle, which was spotted shortly afterwards at a gas station in the town of Garrison. Deputies confirmed that the pickup was occupied by a male and a female.

A Crow Wing County Sheriff's deputy attempted to stop the suspect vehicle in Garrison but the driver was able to escape onto Lake Mille Lacs and sped off in a southeasterly direction.  without the squad car able to pursue.

Officers from a number of local agencies and the State Patrol set up a perimeter, blocking all roads on and off the Lake. Eventually Mille Lacs Tribal DNR agents on snowmobiles located the suspect vehicle abandoned southwest of Rainbow Island in Vineland bay near the shore line.

A Mille Lacs Sheriff's K-9 officer tracked the suspect's footprints from the abandoned vehicle to Migizi Drive, where a second vehicle apparently picked them up.

Surveillance of several homes in the area led to North Central Drug Task Force Agents initiating a traffic stop of a SUV leaving a residence. The SUV's tire impressions matched those spotted where the suspects were picked up, and a 21-year-old female inside the Ford Bronco was taken into custody.

Investigators quickly identified a 23-year-old man from Onamia as a person of interest, and talked him into surrendering from a local home without incident. A search of the home uncovered a loaded pistol with ballistic tip rounds.

Both suspects are being held in the Mille Lacs County Jail pending charges. Anyone with further information is asked to Contact the Mille Lacs Tribal Police or the Mille Lacs County Sheriff's office.
