ST. PAUL, Minn. - It's been a productive season for many ice anglers across Minnesota, but for those who do their fishing out of permanent houses or shacks, it's about time to shut it down.

Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Conservation Officer Aaron Kahre (Kerry) was out on Lake Minnetonka Friday reminding anglers about the rapidly-approaching deadline to remove their ice shelters from the lake.

Structures must be off lakes in the southern two-thirds of the state by midnight on Monday, March 4. The deadline is midnight on March 18 for the northern third of the state.

If shelters are not removed by the deadline owners will be prosecuted and structures may be confiscated and removed, or destroyed by a conservation officer.

After removal date, shelters may remain on the ice between midnight and one hour before sunrise only when occupied or attended. Storing or leaving shelters on a public access is prohibited.
