GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - A wintry mix of precipitation moved through the metro area Friday morning but will gradually be changing over to mostly snow by late morning and afternoon.

We will then see a bit of a break before a second wave of mostly snow moves through in the evening and first part of the overnight hours.

When it's all done the Twin Cities will generally see one to three inches of slushy accumulation. Freezing rain shouldn't be too much of a widespread problem Friday morning with surface temperatures at or above freezing and most paved surfaces retaining some heat from the 40 degree sunshine of Thursday. Outside of the metro ice could accumulate lightly in some spots. A Winter Weather Advisory is out for Friday into Friday night, including the metro.

The weekend will be dry & quiet (though cool: about 10-15 degrees cooler than normal). The next system moves in Sunday night into Monday in the form of mostly just snow. The potential exists for several inches of snow, though the storm appears to be taking a bit of a more northerly track and with a little bit less moisture. Snow could start just before the Monday morning commute and last through the day.
