HASTINGS, Minn. -- The metro's first flood advisory of the spring season was issues this weekend for parts of eastern Dakota County.
Melting snow and ice and the rising Vermillion River caused some minor flooding forcing several county roads to be closed. By Sunday afternoon only a few farm roads reminded closed.
"It was a little dramatic," says Teresa Vanderlinden, who lives in Marshan Township four miles south of Hastings.
"This happens every year depending on how much snow we got."
Sunday's temps in 30s slowed the thaw and water receded by the afternoon.
Those who live in rural Dakota County say this is only the beginning.
"Lots of snow and ice to melt out there," says Teresa. "It was like a rapids yesterday. "
