WORTHINGTON, Minn. - The administrator of a small southwestern Minnesota community says a damaging ice storm has changed the cityscape forever.

Worthington in Nobles County was hit particularly hard by spring storms that are moving through Minnesota.

Administrator Craig Clark says it was "raining branches" in the city because of all the ice. About 6 inches of snow has accumulated on top of Wednesday's ice.

Clark says the city's backup diesel generation plant kept houses warm and sump pumps going when up to a third of the city lost power. He says the city's industries, including the JBS meatpacking plant, and local schools remain closed because of the power situation.

Clark says that while the city sustained extensive forestry damage, he has not heard of any injuries.
