PESHTIGO, Wis. - Authorities are expected Tuesday to talk about the investigation into the death of a 45-year-old Peshtigo woman over the weekend.
Patricia Waschbisch was found dead at a home at 526 Thompson St. on Sunday night, according to a statement released Monday by the state Department of Justice. Her death is considered a homicide. An autopsy was scheduled for Monday to determine an official cause of death.
Brent Kaempf, 48, was taken into custody for questioning in Waschbisch's death. The two were in a relationship at the time of her death, the DOJ said.
A news conference is scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Marinette County Sheriff's Department to talk about the case.
The Wisconsin State Crime Lab, the Marinette County Sheriff's Department and Wauwatosa Police Department also are assisting with this investigation. Anyone with information should call the Peshtigo Police Department at (715) 582-4511.
What appeared to be a body was removed from the Thompson Street house on a stretcher about 9:15 a.m. Monday. The house was cordoned off with yellow police tape. Officials removed boxes and bags from the house as well as a vehicle that was in front of the house.
Police did not talk to media at the scene, but collected fax numbers.
Neighbors said there was little unusual about the street.
"Hardly anything goes on around here," said Bruce Wells, who lives four houses away. "It's mainly just the occasional speeding ticket on the main drag."
