WAYZATA, Minn. - While many people equate the Fourth of July holiday with elaborate fireworks displays or grand celebrations of patriotism, the heart and soul of America's Independence Day remains in the grass roots main street parades that brings communities across Minnesota together.

From the Kiddie Parade in Wayzata to the boat parade at Lake Wabasso, folks turned out Thursday morning to cheer floats, bands and the occasional wacky display. It's a celebration of hard-earned freedom, and the people who remain on watch to keep the country strong.

Attached are some of the video highlights.
