MINNEAPOLIS - Hours before Big Time Rush took the stage at the Target Center Saturday night, the Fiemeyer family was in a special line. The family from Wadena was preparing for a chance to meet and greet the boy band.
"This is a gift from Jane and it's surreal," said Jil Fiemeyer.
Almost one year ago, 8-year old Jane Fiemeyer had one wish. Her goal was to someday meet her favorite band, Big Time Rush, despite knowing the aggressive form of leukemia was taking hold.
Her story spread. The bright, compassionate girl drawn to everything glitz and glam captured hearts across Minnesota and even drew the attention of the band. Big Time Rush had actually scheduled a surprise Skype meeting with Jane, but that morning she passed away.
"She is very present in this moment," says her mother Jil. "This is her gift to us."
Through various connections, the Fiemeyer family was able to secure backstage passes to meet the band. It meant Jane's wish would come true, but only through her younger sisters Anna, 5, and Katie Rae, 7.
"Since we're on the brink of the one-year anniversary this is very emotional," said Jil. "But this is a gift that brings us all together."
