CLARKFIELD, Minn. - Authorities in western Minnesota are investigating how a suspect was able to pull a gun during a police interview Tuesday, leading to a struggle and that weapon being discharged.
The Yellow Medicine County Sheriff's Office says agents from the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation were in Minnesota to question a man on the 800 block of 9th Avenue in the city of Clarkfield regarding an ongoing investigation.
Yellow Medicine County Sheriff's deputies were providing security assistance when in the midst of the interview, the person being interviewed produced a handgun. Officers began to struggle with the person and the weapon went off.
The sheriff says the gun and scene were quickly secured by assisting officers, and no one was hurt during the struggle.
