ST. PAUL, Minn. -- A man who was brutally beaten on the east side of St. Paul in early August is showing signs of improving.
According to CaringBridge, Ray Widstrand opened and closed one of his eyes Wednesday.
Widstrand suffered swelling to the brain, among other injuries, after police say he was randomly attacked.
Police say they were called to Payne and Minnehaha Avenues on a report of a fight on Aug. 4.
When they arrived, officers observed 40 to 50 teens and young adults running from the area. They found Widstrand on the ground with blood coming from his nose and mouth.
Emergency personnel took the 26-year-old victim to Regions Hospital where it was pronounced he had severe brain swelling.
One man and three juveniles were arrested in the case.
