MUMBAI, India - At least eight people are dead, and the death toll could go much higher, after the collapse of an apartment building in India's financial capital of Mumbai.
More than 30 people have been rescued from the rubble, but a similar number are still missing, and the search is continuing.
There were cheers today from hundreds of onlookers as rescuers plucked a small girl alive from the collapsed building, and carried her through a tunnel that was dug through the rubble.
Today's disaster was the third deadly building collapse in six months in Mumbai. At least 72 people died in April when an illegally constructed building fell down. At least ten others died in June when a three-story building collapsed.
