MINNEAPOLIS -- Water service has been restored, but the cleanup is just beginning after water main break in downtown Minneapolis early Sunday morning.
The incident flooded streets and an apartment at 7th Street S. and Portland Ave. around 4 a.m.
Water flooded the basement and lower floor of the Sexton Condos, forcing some residents to evacuate. Insurance adjusters and city officials will be on the scene Monday to determine the extent of the damage.
Crews turned off the water after they found the break in a 12-inch water main under Portland Avenue.
Water was restored at about 6 p.m. It is not clear what caused the main to break.
