ST. PAUL - A 15-year-old suspect in the near fatal beating of a St. Paul man has accepted a plea deal in the case.
In exchange for testifying against the other suspects in the upcoming case, the teen was sentenced to serve up to two years in a juvenile facility.
Four other suspects are waiting for their cases to go through the court system.
The victim, Ray Widstrand, is recovering from his injuries.
In August, police say Widstrand was walking home near Payne and Minnehaha Avenues when several gang members brutally beat him for no reason. His injuries were so bad he was put into a medically induced coma. Widstrand suffered severe brain swelling.
