MINNEAPOLIS - Two time Olympic gold medal winner Gabby Douglas visited the Twin Cities on Thursday to help teenagers overcome their obstacles and reach their full potential.
Douglas is also in town to help promote the non-profit group, Treehouse.
Julie Nelson had a chance to speak with her at their fundraiser earlier Thursday.
Douglas shared some of what her life has been like since winning the 2012 Olympic team gold and the Women's Gymnastics Olympic All-Around Title.
Since then she has written a book, acted in movies, been interviewed by countless reporters and moved with her entire family to L.A. But soon, training for the 2016 games in Rio de Janeiro begins.
"Is it a hard decision to go back to the gym?" Julie asked. "It is hard but I want to reach higher. I had to hold back some upgraded skills before the Olympics because they weren't ready but now I can just go all out," Douglas replied.
Gabby said this trip to the Twin Cities will be one of her last speaking events before her training begins.
