CHANHASSEN, Minn. - A business owner and two of her employees face charges of prostitution after a raid at a massage business in Chanhassen.
Carver County Deputies served a warrant at the business, located on the 7900 block of Stone Creek Drive, around 4:15 p.m. Tuesday after someone reported employees were offering sex in addition to massage services for a "tip" of $40 to $60.
An undercover deputy posing as a massage customer booked a massage appointment. During the massage the alleged owner offered to provide sexual services in exchange for money.
More deputies then entered the business with a search warrant and discovered two women and two men in adjacent massage rooms, in addition to the room occupied by the undercover deputy and first suspect. All of the women were semi-clothed and at least one of the other men was nude when deputies entered the business.
Olson says each of the women confessed to engaging in prostitution.
Deputies arrested a 37 year old woman from Eden Prairie, the alleged owner of the business, for felony promotion of prostitution. Law enforcement later served a search warrant at the business owner's Eden Prairie residence where they discovered additional evidence. She is currently being held in the Carver County Jail pending formal charges.
A 35-year-old woman from Savage and a 31-year-old woman from Richfield were both booked and released on misdemeanor prostitution charges.
"Prostitution is not a victimless crime," said Sheriff Olson. "Most sex workers are vulnerable and poor and duped into a life of dependency and abuse."
The male business patrons were identified and released. The case remains under investigation.
