The man with the loud bark and even louder face paint is going to the Hall of Fame.
The NFL announced former Vikings defensive lineman John Randle will be inducted into the Hall of Fame along with headliners Jerry Rice and Emmitt Smith.
Un-drafted out of a small school in Texas, Randle makes it back-to-back-to-back years a former Viking will be in the Hall.
Two years ago, Gary Zimmerman made it. Last year, Randall McDaniel was enshrined.
I'm very happy for Randle because he's easily one of the most humble, fun-loving athletes around. And he can absolutely pound a golf ball.
I truly believed he'd be a Hall of Famer, but I did not expect this to be the year.
In fact, I figured another former Viking, Cris Carter, was more likely. Carter will eventually make it, and chances are he'll be the 4th Viking to be a Hall of Famer in as many years to get in.
Congratulations to John and best of luck to Carter next year.
I'm David Watkins, and I'll try harder next time.
