Holy chow! State Fair announces new foods for 2011

FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn. -- The Great Minnesota Get-Together is still more than two months away, but some minds are already drifting to the mouth watering smells that hang above the fairgrounds in Falcon Heights, and wondering about the new food options that 2011 will bring.

Well, wait no more. On Friday the Minnesota State Fair announced the new menu options. Among them:

  • Chocolate Covered Jalapeno Peppers- Andre's Watermelon
  • Breakfast Lollipop (Sausage patty deep fried on-a-stick with a side of maple syrup)- Axel's
  • Crab Fritters (crab meat, veggies, Caribbean herbs and spices all rolled into a fritter and deep fried, served with southwest dipping sauce)- Ollie's Crab Fritters
  • Sweet Corn Ice Cream (vanilla ice cream with blended kernels of summer corn)- Blue Moon Dine In Theater
  • Deep-Fried Cookie Dough (fresh cookie dough deep-fried in a sweet batter and coated with powdered sugar) - Sonny's Spiral Chips and Tornado Potato
  • Grilled Yankee Apple Pie and Chocolate Sandwich (brioche bread filled with apples and spices covered in a layer of chocolate, grilled and covered with powdered sugar) - Moe & Joe's Espresso Bar
  • Mexican Horchata Beverage (cold drink made of rice, almonds, cinnamon, vanilla and sugar)- El Sol Mexican Food
  • Northwoods Salad (portable Caprese Salad)- Giggles Campfire Grill
  • Coushari Rice with Lentil- Holy Land Deli
  • Pretzel Dog (hot dog wrapped in pretzel dough, served on-a-stick)- Der Pretzel Haus
  • Jamaican Jerk Fries- Harry Singh's Caribbean Restaurant
  • Dirt Dessert (Oreo cookies, vanilla pudding, whipped cream, cream cheese and gummy worms, served State Fair style)- Spaghetti Eddie's
  • Grilled Chicken Pita- T-Bonz Concessions
  • Teriyaki Chicken on-a-stick- Chans Concession

The Minnesota State Fair runs from August 25 to September 5th.
