WILSON, Wis. -- The St. Croix County Sheriff's Office says a western Wisconsin man died in an ATV accident Monday evening.

Patrick Sobota, 56, of rural Wilson, Wis. left the American Legion in Wilson about 8:30 p.m. Monday but did not arrive home. He was riding a 2008 Polaris 500 X2 4-wheeler.

After an extensive ground and air search, Sobota's body was located in a bean field several hundred yards south of the 2600 block of 50th Avenue.

Police say Sobota crashed the ATV into a wood line along the south side of a bean field. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by the St. Croix County Sheriff's Office and the Wisconsin DNR.

Wilson is located about 30 miles east of Hudson, Wis.
