LEON, Minn. - The State Patrol says a 27-year-old man has died in another fatal accident on Highway 52 in Goodhue County Tuesday morning.
The accident happened just after 7 a.m. at northbound Hwy. 52 and County Road 9 in Wastedo, Minn.
A 27-year-old man from Nerstrand died in the accident. (The State Patrol had originally said the man from Nerstrand was 51 years old but changed his age to 27 later.)
A car traveling eastbound on CR 9 and a car traveling northbound on Hwy. 52 collided in the northbound lanes of Hwy. 52. The Nerstrand man was driving the car traveling east on CR 9.
Lt. Eric Roeske with the Minnesota State Patrol said on Twitter the man who died was not wearing a seat belt and partially ejected from his car.
Heidi M. Connolly, 51, from Rochester was driving the vehicle that was traveling north on Hwy. 52. She was transported to St. Mary's in Rochester with what police describe as a non life-threatening injury.
In a story with KARE just last week, the Minnesota Department of Transportation called the spot where Hwy. 52 and CR 9 meet as the "13th most dangerous intersection in the state."
On October 8, two people from Chicago were killed in a three-vehicle accident at the intersection of Hwy. 52 and CR 9.
Mn/DOT says that intersection has seen a steady incline in accidents throughout the past five years.
The Grant County Sheriff's Office assisted the State Patrol with this incident.
Wastedo is a small unincorporated community within Leon Township. Leon is located about ten miles south of Cannon Falls on Highway 52.
