MINNEAPOLIS - Police say the man wanted in connection with a shooting at a Minneapolis library in June has turned himself in.

Minneapolis police say the suspect, 23-year-old Timothy Harper of Richfield, turned himself in Tuesday.

The shooting took place on June 13 in a bathroom inside the Franklin Avenue Library. A homeless man was brushing his teeth inside the bathroom when he was shot.

The victim, a 42-year-old immigrant from Sudan, was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center where it was determined the bullet was lodged in the man's spine, leaving him paralyzed.

An investigator with the Minneapolis Police Department was able to identify Harper as the subject. Police say Harper had left the area after the shooting, most likely to Chicago.

Harper is currently in the Hennepin County Jail.

He was charged with first degree assault.
