BENA, Minn. - The bodies of two Minnesota men have been recovered from Lake Winnibigoshish after their boat capsized in turbulent weather Friday.
The Cass County Sheriff's department received a call just after 6:30 p.m. that a boat had capsized. Responding officers located the boat and several items floating in the water near it. An initial search of the area was performed by boat and the Minnesota State Patrol helicopter. Conditions were very windy with gusts between 30-40 MPH.
Crews resumed the search Saturday and located both victims, one at 9:35 a.m. and the other at 5 p.m. The victims are a 43-year-old man from Minneapolis and a 53-year-old man from Princeton.
Both victims were taken to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office for autopsy.
