MINNETONKA, Minn. -- There's no question the dangers of distracted driving -- especially among new drivers.

But an event at Ridgedale Center Mall Saturday helped drive home the point teenagers need to be safe on the road.

"We just want to emphasize to them that when they're driving, just be focused on the driving.  The texts and the phone calls can wait until you stop," said Sharlene Downs, a State Farm agent in Chanhassen.

State Farm teamed up with the University of Minnesota's Center for Transportation Studies, Minnesota State Patrol, Hennepin County Medical Center and others to host the "Celebrate My Drive" event.  Teenagers were able to play a virtual driving game and other activities to help experience the danger of distracted driving.

State Farm is also giving one Minnesota high school a $100,000 grant as part of the effort.  And one Twin Cities teenager will also win a brand new Chevy Sonic LS.
