ELK RIVER, Minn. - Sherburne County authorities say they've busted a marijuana grow operation and arrested the 35-year-old man behind it.
Deputies were called to a home in the 13000 block of 254th Avenue Northwest shortly after 9:30 p.m. Thursday on a a disturbance call.
According to Sheriff Joel Brott, the Sheriff's Office received a call of an assault that occurred at the residence on 254th Ave. Deputies responded and arrested the Zimmerman man for 5th degree possession of a controlled substance and fifth degree sale of a controlled substance and booked him into the Sherburne County Jail.
While interviewing the individuals involved in the assault and witnesses on the scene investigators learned that there was a marijuana growing operation inside the residence.
The Sherburne County Drug Task Force (DTF) was called in and a search warrant was obtained and executed at the home. During the search deputies seized 30 marijuana plants, containers containing dried marijuana and lights, fans and other items used for the growing of marijuana.
Prosecutors are assembling the case and could file charges as early as Friday.
