GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. -- If your dad is into high tech gadgets you might want to pass on the standard tie or coffee mug for Father's Day this weekend.

Dave Bourland from Verizon visited KARE 11 Sunrise to share ideas of apps that could be the perfect present. Here are his picks:

Grill Guide ($0.99): Dad can get detailed prep to plate tips for grilling meat, poultry, fish, veggies, and even fruit. Compatible with Apple devices.

Clocks4Dad ($0.99): The modern day equivalent of giving Dad a pocket watch for Father's Day. Compatible with Apple devices.

Gas Cubby ($4.99): This app can track gas mileage and vehicle upkeep. It will also help find out whether money is being wasted or saved. Compatible with Apple devices.

iHandy Carpenter ($1.99): This app will give Dad access to a 5-in-1 tool that can make his tablet or smartphone ready for some serious carpentry. Compatible with Apple and Android devices.

Golfshot ($29.99): This is for dads that love to golf but can't afford professional training sessions. The GPS app tracks golf shots. Compatible with Apple and Android devices.

iSwing Golf Analyzer ($2.99): Take a live video of your golf swing and analyze it frame by frame. Compatible with Apple and Android devices.
