MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- The University of Minnesota says hockey player Zach Budish has been injured in a moped accident.

The school put out a brief statement on Tuesday saying Budish suffered a lower-body injury. The school says it is still "still in the process of determining the severity of the" injury. Head coach Don Lucia will give an update on the sophomore's condition Wednesday afternoon.

Budish has two goals and four assists in seven games this season for the Gophers.

The Edina native suffered a severe knee injury while playing football in high school and missed his entire senior year of hockey in 2008-09. But he recovered in time to join the Gophers for the 2009-10 season. He had seven goals and 10 assists in 39 games as a freshman last year.
