MINNEAPOLIS - Knee surgery will officially end Kevin Love's season, according to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The team says that Love will undergo an arthroscopic procedure on his left knee to remove a buildup of scar tissue.

The injury is deemed minor with a recovery time of between 4 to 6 weeks.

The surgery will be performed by Dr. David Altchek of the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City later this week, the team said.

Unfortunately, it's more bad news in a season that has been filled with injuries for Love and his teammates.

Love only played in 18 games this season. He broke a bone in his hand and missed the first nine games of the season. He returned, but was sidelined again with the same injury on Jan. 3.

In those 18 games, Love averaged 18.3 points and 14.0 rebounds per game.
