EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. - Adrian Peterson isn't the only Minnesota Vikings challenging records these days.
Rookie kicker Blair Walsh has arguably been the second-most important player to the offense. His reliability from anywhere inside of 60 yards has been critical for a team that has often struggled to move the ball when Peterson isn't gobbling up big chunks of yards.
Walsh was named NFC special teams player of the week on Wednesday after he kicked five field goals, including three of 50 yards or more in a victory over the Rams. He hit from 50, 53 and 51 yards to tie an NFL record for most field goals of at least 50 yards in one game.
He is eight for eight on 50-yard field goals this season.
