PALESTINE, Tex. - The Vikings are at the start of their six-week break after the end of the team's mandatory minicamp and for one player, this weekend is about giving back a little bit to the community that he grew up in.
The city of Palestine honored Adrian Peterson with the 7th annual Adrian Peterson Day on Saturday.
Hundreds of supporters came out to visit with the NFL's MVP. The town held a parade and had a picnic in the park with food, games and live music.
AP spent the day signing autographs and taking pictures with fans.
"It feels good to come back home and get the kind of support that they show," Peterson said. "It's been like this since high school and even growing up."
One of the main reasons for the celebration is so that local young people and athletes can meet Peterson and learn what can be accomplished from hard work.
