ST. PAUL, Minn. - Minnesota Wild Fans had wild expectations for the first home playoff game in five years. Legions of excited fans came to a Wild pre-game party before the puck dropped.

"We were really bummed when the lockout went so long, but it's been a great season they made up for it ," said Kim Skluzaeck, of Rosemount, who came in an autographed jersey.

Judy Venasky of Apple Valley hoped to bring good luck by buying new gear for the big day.

"I have a Mikko Koivu shirt because he's my favorite player.  And he better score today or I may have to get a different shirt!" she laughed.

Fans took their good fortunes into the game, and needed any stroke of luck when the teams went into overtime.

Jason Zucker scored at 2:15 of overtime to give Minnesota a 3-2 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks, pulling the Wild within 2-1 in the Western Conference quarterfinal series.

Great news Dave Werner, of Eagan, who vowed he won't cut his hair until the playoffs are over.

"I got some flow going on back here, some mullet action, you got to do it for the team," he said, pointing to his hockey hair.

David Jegloski sported a Wild tattoo which he got during the 2003 playoffs. He pointed to more space on his forearm.

"I'm waiting for the Stanley Cup," he said.

"This was do or die, this was a must win, come back and win one more home game," said Cal Soderquist, of Anoka, after the win. "It seemed like all the good luck evaporated at the end of the third but in the first few minutes of overtime we got it all back so we will see if it carries into Tuesday."

Many fans say they'll be headed back for Game 4 Tuesday despite the late start. The puck drops at 8:30 p.m.
